4WD mastery has always been at the core of the Jeep® brand. You can expect to Go Anywhere, Do Anything™ in a Jeep® vehicle, thanks to over 69 years of tried and true off-road craftsmanship. Wrangler has two 4WD systems: Rock Trac® and Command-Trac®. Heavy-duty sill guards (a.k.a. rock rails) are bolted directly to the frame for added body strength and to resist twisting when sliding over rocks and boulders. Added Jeep® capability is evident from Wrangler's outstanding ground clearance.
Get the power you need, contained in Wrangler's reliable 3.8L overhead valve 60-degree V6 engine. The workhorse for all models is a 3.8L SMPI V6 engine that provides robust performance and durability. The available four-speed automatic transmission offers the freedom of smooth hands-free shifting. A six-speed manual transmission comes standard on all models. Wrangler's Electronic Throttle Control system's special off-road calibrations help the driver to "feather in" the throttle over uneven terrain, logs and rocks.
Tunable Monotube Shock Absorbers have a proprietary Low Speed Tunable valve technology that is firm at low speed for improved feel on the rocks and a relaxed feel at higher speed for optimum highway driving.
Wrangler's all-new hill descent control with grade sensing allows a smooth and controlled hill descent on rough or slippery terrain without the driver needing to touch the brake pedal. This system applies the brakes to each wheel individually when needed to reduce forward motion while negotiating down steep grades.
